Bucket List

Last night I spent the night with my grandmother and it took me back to when I was a little kid again. There is something about staying with my grandparents.....the most comfortable beds in the world, the best home cooked food ever, and the list goes on and on. I sat there talking to my grandmother about things I wanted to accomplish in my lifetime or even just this year. The things I want to do aren't the most challenging things but they are edgy in the fact that most people don't think about doing them. So, it's like that movie the Bucket List. Here is my list:

1. Run a half-marathon- did that in April in Nashville
2. Skydive
3. Ride in a hot air balloon
4. Run a trail run--I am doing one in November for the Marine Corps-13.1 miles of running trails.
5. Thru hike the Pinhoti Trail (140 miles)
6. Scuba dive somewhere tropical- Costa Rica, Cozumel..etc. Not Gulf Shores haha.
7. Go to Savannah, Georgia
8. Take a canoeing trip
9. Go to the U.S. Open for tennis
10. Thru hike or section hike the Appalachian Trail (2,175 miles)
11. Go on a cruise
12. Swim with dolphins
13. Go white water rafting again
14. Run a full marathon

I know it will take a lot of money and a lot of time to finish some of these things but maybe I will win the lottery or something! This summer I am planning on doing #2,4,6,7, & 8. Maybe the years to come I will finish the rest. So, what's your bucket list?

*Happy Memorial Day!! We're going to pick up Jason at Camp Lejune, NC on Sunday! He should be on his way back into the United States now.

So, I have been very antsy about Jason coming home. For those who don't know, my older brother is in Afghanistan right now. He has been there since January and he is actually getting to come home early! Woo hoo! I can remember when we dropped him off around 3 a.m. how shaky and nervous I was too see him get sent off. Jason & I have never been extremely close mainly because you know when you're in high school it's not "cool" to associate with your siblings. For the longest time, I felt like my brothers were always ganging up on me. But when Jason moved out, things changed. I don't know exactly how many times I have seen Jason since he has been in the Marines but it hasn't been much. I am so thankful when I do get to see him. In less than a month, I'll get to see him again. It's hard to believe he is in such a dangerous place but then again I know the Lord watches out after him. I just know I am one proud sister who is very blessed to have a brother who serves the United States of America. *Philippians 4:13

That's pretty much the only thing on my mind. I have actually enjoyed being home for a little bit. Strange huh?

Here I go...

Well, I have always wanted to start a blog since I write in a journal every day so this should be fun! 2009 sure is flying by. It seems like yesterday I was just starting college & now I am half way finished. At the end of 2008, I decided that when 09 rolled around I wanted to accomplish more things than I ever had in my life. I've always loved doing things at the spur of the moment...and what better way to just go out there and do it. At the beginning of January, I saw the movie "Yes Man" and while it may not have been the best movie in the world, it sure had one heck of a meaning! Try to say yes to everything that is thrown your way. We only live once right? So anyways, I'll put up some stuff that I've done this year and some goals that I have in mind for the future :) I know I love reading about what other people are up to so maybe you'll find some of it interesting. Like my dad always tells me...when the going gets tough, the tough get going!
